On April 30, 2018, Terryne F. Murphy became the Deputy Chief Information Officer, Solutions & Service Delivery for the Department of Commerce (DOC). She reports to the DOC Chief Information Officer. In this role, she oversees the solution development and deployment as well as the full suite of IT services delivery of classified and unclassified IT services for several small bureaus and offices within the DOC Headquarters, located at the Herbert C. Hoover Building in Washington DC.
Ms. Murphy has been a leader and manager for over 31 years, serving in a variety of positions within the United States military as well as the private and public sectors. Most recently, she served as Executive Director for Headquarters Services Division at Department of Homeland Security Headquarters and Chief Information Officer at the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) within the Department of Justice. In addition, she led IT service delivery organizations in the private sector for GTE Government Systems, DynCorp and Computer Sciences Corporation.
She began her career as a telecommunications officer in the United States Army and served for over eleven years achieving the rank of major before departing to the private sector. Prior to serving as CIO for EOIR, she was the DCIO at EOIR, and led an IT division at the US Census Bureau within Department of Commerce.
Ms. Murphy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from North Carolina State University and two masters’ certificates in project management and conflict analysis and resolution from George Mason University.
