Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)

About Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)

The Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) program is an information security reform that addresses inconsistent, and often conflicting, patchwork of over 100 different agency-specific policies, markings, and other requirements used to control information requiring protection in accordance with and consistent with Laws, Regulations, or Government-wide policies (LRGWP) throughout the executive branch.  The CUI Program is mandated by Executive Order 13556 and 32 CFR Part 2002 (June 2016).
